The Thread That Keeps Unraveling
On June 6, my book will be released into the world.
Even typing those words feels surreal.
For months, I've been building this dream thread by thread. Learning how to create a website. Learning how to send emails. Learning how to create a professional signature. Learning how to become the author, teacher, and business owner I feel called to be.
None of it has come naturally.
There have been moments when I've stared at a screen wondering if I was capable of figuring it all out. Moments when I've clicked the wrong button, started over, and learned through trial and error. Moments when I questioned whether I was too late, too old, or too inexperienced to begin again.
And then something interesting happened.
As I prepare to release my book and continue building Threads by Zensetter, I received an email reminding me to renew my cosmetology license.
For twenty-seven years, that license represented a huge part of my identity. It carried me through seasons of growth, challenge, success, and reinvention. It helped me support my family. It taught me how to connect with people. It showed me the power of listening, holding space, and witnessing transformation.
Yet here I am.
Building something new.
The timing of that email made me pause.
Was the universe testing me?
Was it asking me to turn around?
Or was it simply offering me an opportunity to reflect on how far I've come?
Perhaps the lesson isn't about choosing one path over another.
Perhaps it's about honoring every thread that brought me here.
The hairstylist.
The student.
The mother.
The breathwork facilitator.
The yoga teacher.
The sound practitioner.
The writer.
None of these versions of me are wrong.
Each one is a thread woven into the tapestry of who I am becoming.
Maybe growth isn't about cutting old threads away.
Maybe it's about trusting that every thread belongs.
And so I continue.
One blog post.
One class.
One email.
One signature.
One lesson.
One breath.
Thread by thread.
And somewhere in the weaving, a new life is quietly taking shape.
