The Thread Leaves My Hands
Tomorrow, Blue Sky Mind will officially be released into the world.
For months, I've shared pieces of the journey—the writing, the editing, the website, the publishing process, the lessons in trust, and the many moments of learning as I went.
But tonight feels different.
Tonight feels like standing at the edge of something I've carried for a very long time.
When I first began writing these poems, I wasn't writing a book.
I was writing my way through life.
Through endings and beginnings.
Through uncertainty and hope.
Through grief and healing.
Through all the moments that taught me there is always blue sky beyond the passing clouds.
Somewhere along the way, those scattered thoughts became threads.
And those threads became a manuscript.
And that manuscript became a book.
Tomorrow, the thread leaves my hands and finds its way into yours.
That feels both terrifying and beautiful.
As creators, we spend so much time tending what we are making that we forget there comes a day when it no longer belongs only to us.
It belongs to the people who find themselves within it.
The people who need the reminder.
The people walking through their own storms.
The people searching for a patch of blue sky.
So tonight, I sit in gratitude.
For every lesson.
For every person who encouraged me.
For every reader who will hold these words.
And for the version of myself who kept writing, even when she wasn't sure where the path was leading.
Tomorrow, Blue Sky Mind begins its journey.
And so do I.
With love,
Sophia
